the Artist Javier

Javier Dayes was born on April 7 in Mandeville, Manchester, Jamaica. From an early age he demonstrated an innate artistic talent. He graduated from Munro College in 2009 and relocated to Kingston to pursue a bachelor's degree in architecture at the University of Technology, Jamaica. During his time in architecture school, Javier honed his artistic abilities, experimented with his creativity and discovered his love for surrealism, abstract art, and minimalism. His work reflects a fusion of academic disciplines with a profound passion for diverse creative expressions. The artist, who is currently based in Manchester, Jamaica, has had work displayed at the National Gallery West in Montego Bay, Jamaica, as well as the Peel Art Gallery, Museum, and Archive (PAMA) in Ontario, Canada. He creates small to large scale works of art.

Javier aspires to create poetic art, art that speaks to the viewer's heart and soul, art that is rich in depth, intensity, and mystery. His creative process is intuitive as well as deliberate, striking a beautiful balance of spontaneity and precision. Each piece starts with a vague idea or feeling and evolves organically. His work translates raw energy, emotion, and movement through the use of expressive painting techniques. Javier  juxtaposes abstraction and imagery to allude to, highlight, and convey human emotion within context. Rather than portraying humanity as we see it, Javier captures the inner emotional complexities and interiority of the human experience.
